Chinese artist Wu Hong said: "wonderland is neither an abstract concept nor an illusory myth, but a beautiful place that has been seen and truly existed." These people have created wonderful life through the efforts of themselves. Like the sculpture, a person lifts a beautiful world with his hands. In my wonderland, I also use my hands to create Flying, Air, Water ripples, Rebirth, Mountain, Fairy, Wonderland, and Growing.
Design Statement
Wonderland
Chinese artist Wu Hong said: "wonderland is neither an abstract concept nor an illusory myth, but a beautiful place that has been seen and truly existed." This sentence made me feel deeply. I believed that the people who are living in wonderland are real, creative, happy, and kind. They are positive and full of hope. These people have created their own life through the efforts of themselves. Just like the sculpture, a person lifts a beautiful world with his own hands.
An ancient Chinese poem I learned when I was a child. It wrote that the protagonist discovered this beautiful world through a cave through the light, and depicts people, fish, creeks, peach flowers, dense bamboo forests, clear lakes, and so on. The people who living there are hospitable, their dress is very different then the outside world. Therefore, this is also the creative point of my collection. Base on this poem I drew some places that I am image about my wonderland. Each look has their own name: Flying, Air, Water ripples, Rebirth, Mountain, Fairy, Wonderland, and Growing.
The color of this collection included blue, pink, green, yellow, and so on. I choose to use light fabric in this collection, such as silk organza. I collected a lot tulle which is left over from my other project, because I do not want to waste them. To reflect the three-dimensional of the finishing design, I made two sandwich fabrics. One is called glue flowers. This fabric is a layer of hot glue ironed between two layers of silk organza. The other one is put one-layer tulle between two layers silk organza and sew water ripples line on. Another fabric design is tie, boiling, and dye. After it is completely dried, remove the thread and it will reach a very interesting and three-dimensional silk organza. I also use plastic paper to make a lot of water flowers as trims. I will not use invisible zippers, snaps, and some decorative buttons, I will only use tie to do the closer. I also collected a lot of waste fabric from this collection to make other things. I think this is important to be sustainable.
Finally, what I want to say always keep original enthusiasm about design. And do not forget to look back on the past as we continue to innovate, because history always gives us a lot of wealth.
